its hard to imagine that any organization is not somehow affected by the vast amount of technology available today. businesses around the world are instantly connected to one another and have high tech, powerful tools at their fingertips. it has been my impression that the fire service, by and large, has been slow to embrace this idea and the power that it affords us. understandably, many firefighters are a tough-as-nails breed that would rather spend their days running calls or training for the next big fire than taking the time to learn technology and how to apply it to their trade. however, recently this trend has started to change. we are starting to see how technology can not only improve our safety on the fireground, but also help better train and educate us when we are not. online advancements like videos and podcasts have opened the doors to a whole new way of connecting with our brothers and sisters around the world. it's hard to grasp the idea that something posted on myspace or youtube can end up being viewed by hundreds or thousands of people. but this is the reality of our high tech world and this blog is devoted to helping discover that technology and how to use it in the fire service.
